Discover the story of beer from the Middle Ages to the present day
Discover the smallest beer jug in the world, a brewery laboratory, and a Gothic malt house - all housed within a brewing-rights house dating back to the 15th century. The Brewery Museum in Pilsen, located on Veleslavínova Street in the heart of the city, is the only specialized museum of its kind in Bohemia, preserving the rich legend of beer-making. Its unique approach and extensive exhibition are said to be unparalleled worldwide. Uncover the secrets behind brewing and serving beer, admire beer steins crafted from glass, ceramics, and pewter, explore collections of beer bottles, and marvel at other unique collectibles. We will also introduce you to the history of Pilsen pubs, malting kilns, rolling pins, and other intriguing beer-related curiosities.
If you are 18 or older, you'll receive a special beer voucher during the tour, which you can exchange for a 0.3L glass of Pilsner Urquell lager at selected restaurants in Pilsen. You can also combine this tour with a visit to the Historical Underground of Pilsen, located in the same building.
What can you expect on the tour?
Original Gothic Malthouse
In the malthouse, you’ll see how barley was soaked and germinated. The first documented mention of a malthouse in this building dates back to 1607. In addition to the „náduvník“ – a space used for soaking barley – you’ll also learn more about the malting craft. The exhibition also features a steam engine that powered a malt crusher at the Blatná Brewery from 1900 to 1978.

City Walls
The city of Plzeň was surrounded by a double fortification wall. Here, you can take a close look and walk through the so-called „parkán“ – the space between the walls, which was historically used for growing grain. Today, we grow Žatec hops here.

Cellars
You will see a historic two-level cellar beneath a 15th-century brewing-rights house, where beer was once fermented and matured. Ice was also stored here in the past.

Beer Curiosities
In our museum, you’ll find a variety of beer vessels, bottles, and other collectible items. There are also some curiosities – such as the smallest and largest beer jug, a copper hammered kettle from the late 19th century made by brewers in honor of Emperor Franz Joseph, and a 19th-century glass keg that was reportedly used to transport beer all the way to the Vatican for the Pope.

Beer Tasting
If you're 18 or older, you'll receive a so-called “Pivenka” during the tour – a voucher that lets you enjoy a 0.3 l glass of Pilsner Urquell lager in selected restaurants in Plzeň.
